Call to Members: Join the Pan-Afrikan Community Committee

The Edge Fund has launched the Pan-Afrikan Community Committee (PACC) to empower Pan-Afrikan members in addressing systemic racism and Afriphobia, fostering accountability and social justice through community-led initiatives, following extensive consultations and collaborative research.

Launch of the Edge Fund Pan-Afrikan Community Committee -PACC

Edge Fund (Edge) has always been committed to ensuring that we reflect and remain
accountable to the communities we serve. To achieve this aim, we developed Community
Committees - a structure designed to empower Edge members from recognised
communities to collectively contribute to areas of our work that affect them directly.

As the two longest-serving members of Afrikan Heritage, Isis Amlak and Kwesi Ochosi have
spent considerable time exploring how Edge can deepen its commitment to racial justice,
equity and accountability to its Afrikan Heritage members. In particular, we are committed to
supporting members from the Pan-Afrikan community to contribute meaningfully to
addressing systemic racism and Afriphobia in the UK philanthropic, and funding sectors, and
in the wider society.

Following extensive discussions and consultation, we are pleased to announce the launch of
the Edge Fund Pan-Afrikan Community Committee (PACC).

The PACC will provide a space for Pan-Afrikan organisations within Edge to address issues
related to our community, identity, lived experience, and protected characteristics. We see
the PACC as an essential and reparative step forward - one that helps to acknowledge and
heal past harms, while ensuring that Edge Fund lives up to its commitments to social and
racial justice, equity and anti-racism for all members.

Next steps

We are excited about the possibilities that this new Community Committee offers for Edge,
for our membership, and for Pan-Afrikan organisations. By working collectively, we can make
a powerful contribution towards the movement for racial justice and social equity, and the
reframing of philanthropy and funding practices within the context of reparations and
reparative justice.
