As part of the AYNI* programme, we are honoured to welcome our second Radical Sharing online forum of 2026.
On the 2nd of July (18:30-19:45), Queer Migrant Pride Fest will lead a workshop on the Asylum system, its hostility, and the latest changes to asylum law.
With the current Labour government, migrant rights have continued to succumb to increasingly restrictive asylum policies, leaving many asylum seekers with precarious support and uncertain futures. This shift has taken place alongside the rise of far-right groups and anti-migrant media narratives, which have increasingly positioned migrants as the ultimate scapegoats for wider social and political issues. Asylum seekers are now facing growing attacks on the legitimacy of their applications, with claims frequently dismissed as false or lacking evidence. As a result, many are left at greater risk of deportation, despite the dangers of persecution, violence, or discrimination they may face if returned.
Learn about the asylum system to fight it.
We invite members and supporters to join us, in which we will map out the hostile asylum system:
1) How are applications processed?
2) Where do migrants go and what do they experience in this process?
3) What is the systemic violence accompanying this system?
